Word-by-word karaoke

Voxlate takes the timing of every word in the transcript and generates an ASS file with a karaoke effect: the word being spoken is highlighted on screen. Choose solid karaoke, which highlights the active word, or rainbow, which gives each word a different shade.

What is the ASS format

ASS (Advanced SubStation Alpha) is a subtitle format with advanced styles and animations. VLC and mpv play it, and editors and tools that burn subtitles into video, such as FFmpeg, accept it.

How it works

  1. Upload your audio or video file.
  2. Pick the language of the audio and the language you want to translate into.
  3. Pick the output format and, if the format supports it, the color and karaoke mode.
  4. Download the transcript in the original language and the translation from My files. We email you when they are ready.

Frequently asked questions

Does karaoke work in any language?

Yes. You can upload audio in any of the 53 available languages and also get the translation with the same style.

Can I burn the subtitles into the video?

Yes, with a tool that supports ASS, such as FFmpeg or a compatible video editor. Voxlate delivers the subtitle file, not the edited video.

Is it free?

You get 5 free minutes of audio every week. For longer files you can pay for just that file (from USD 2) or pick a monthly plan. You need an account to upload files.
